  1. Life-sustaining treatment: cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), cardioversion, intubation, or code doses of medications and life-sustaining technology. Limited life support: withdrawal or withholding of life-sustaining measures and do-not-resuscitate (DNR) orders. Withdrawal of treatment: discontinuation of the life-sustaining intervention/treatment that was already in place. Withholding treatment: ‘noninitiation’ or the decision not to escalate a life-sustaining treatment
